Atlanta is ThirstyAtlanta is ThirstyLooks like a judge has told Atlanta that its not allowed to suck water from Lake Lanier and gave them 3 years to find an alternate source, so it looks as though they are revisiting the idea of getting water from Nickajack Lake if they can move the border up by a mile. Maybe they should stop watering their yards and close down a few water parks before they stick a straw in the Tennessee river. LOL, as if TVA would let them.

Rarity waterfront project in peril

Rarity Property at NickajackRarity Property at NickajackAccording to Josh Flory of the Knoxville News Sentinel, an auction has been scheduled at 11 a.m. on August 19th for the 578 acres along Nickajack Lake.

The foreclosure covers the entire project excpt for about 60 lots which have already been sold.

The auction will take place at the front entrance of the Marion County Courthouse in Jasper, TN.

Search continues for Maryville woman who fell off boat

Tellico LakeTellico LakeFrom the Knoxville News Sentinel: VONORE — Authorities are searching Tellico Lake this morning for a Maryville woman who fell off the back of a boat Saturday night, according to Vonore Police Chief John Hines.

Stephanie Renee McDonald, 32, was on a platform at the rear of a ski boat when she tumbled into the water and didn’t resurface about 8 p.m. Saturday, said Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Thomas Goodman.

According to the article by Dave Flessner and Mike Pare of the Times Free Press, Divers have found underwater concrete defects along the riverfront wall including five instances of voids, cracking concrete and exposed rebar. Since we haven't had any recent reports of rude boaters on Lake Chickamauga, perhaps you would like to see this story about a bunch of rude boaters in Grand Lake:

For four generations my family has been enjoying Grand Lake and the fireworks. This year we had our family on three boats including 10 small children.

When the fireworks finished we moved toward the channel. I was leading the way when a pontoon boat went sideways and blocked the bridge. The boats in line waited while the pontoon straightened out and went through the narrow bridge opening; another pontoon had the same problem....
