Following a high-speed odyssey up the Tennessee River on Tuesday, Paul Nichols expects his back to ache and his joints to be stiff today from being jostled about as be piloted his bass boat to an American Power Boat Association speed record.

"My hands have blisters all over them. My back hurts, my legs hurt; I'm worn out," Nichols said after completing his record-setting run in 11 hours 14 minutes.

The Chattanooga resident said the excitement of driving his way into the boating organization's record book will dull the aches and pains.

We were thinking about putting information about tying knots on our site, but why reproduce the wheel, especially when it is done so well by the website Grog's Animated Knots. Grog does a wonderful job showing multi-stage pictures of the knot in progress. If you are capable of tying your shoes, you have the skills to learn from his site.
 
Just about any knot you can think of is on the site, and the link we provide will take you to the 16 most common boating knots. Later on, we may produce a quiz on viewing a knot and knowing what kind it is.

Jerry Uhrine, Gary Hathcock and Ted Boozer catch lots of catfish, so it's not surprising they have gotten hooked on television shows such as River Monsters on the Animal Planet network.

Hauling in gargantuan fish -- often catfish -- is the theme of such shows, so the trio decided to go after bigger prey for themselves.

"We catch a lot of catfish, but we wanted to go somewhere where you catch those big fat ones," Uhrine said.

Before becoming a permanent fixture in Chattanooga, the Queen recreated historic steamboat races each year during the Kentucky Derby Festival, when it raced with the Belle of Louisville on the Ohio at Louisville in the Great Steamboat Race. The winner of the annual race would received a trophy of golden antlers, which was mounted on the pilot house until the next race. They also raced during the Tall Stacks festivals celebrating steamboats, held every three or four years in Cincinnati (the Delta Queen's former home port).

Feel like flying?Feel like flying?Okay, I know this is a promotional video, but it doesn't change the fact that its pretty friggin cool. The price range runs in the 6 figures though. The power source follows the "pilot" allowing them to go wherever they want, up to 186 miles. Incredible.

Body FoundBody FoundThe body of a Maryville woman who fell off the back of a boat in Tellico Lake was recovered Monday night.

Stephanie Renee McDonald, 32, was aboard a 19-foot Mastercraft, along with five other people, when she tumbled into the water near Tellico Harbor Marina and didn’t resurface about 8 p.m. Saturday, said Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Thomas Goodman.

Her body was found about 8:15 p.m. Monday.
